SOLD This is an oil painting on canvas, 12 x 16 inches. It is a sort of modern takeoff on on Pre-Raphaelite painting by Madox Brown. It is named, Mauvais Sujet (meaning Bad Lot or Bad Subject.) and is of a young girl writing, eating a piece of fruit and holding a quill pen. This is uncomfortably erotic to many. My chanages are simply to make the quill and crayola crayon and replace the paper with a Barbie coloring book. This was to suggest young girls, perhaps more in the past, eager to see themselves as beauty defining them. I am hoping that times have changed.
